AI visibility audit
See what ChatGPT and Google AI say about your business
An AI visibility audit for Dallas home service businesses. We ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews the questions your customers ask, record who gets named for your trade, and show you why it isn’t you yet.

The problem
You can’t see this channel, so you can’t tell if you’re losing it.
Google gives you Search Console. Your Google Business Profile shows calls and direction requests. ChatGPT gives you nothing. There is no dashboard that tells a roofer in Mesquite how often an AI assistant named him this month, or which competitor it named instead.
So most owners find out by accident. A customer mentions that ChatGPT suggested someone else. A friend types “best electrician in Richardson” into Gemini as a joke and your name isn’t there. By then you’re guessing at the cause.
The answers themselves are short. Where Google shows ten results and a map, an AI assistant usually names a handful of businesses and moves on. It also gets things wrong: an old phone number, a service you dropped, a city you don’t cover, a business that closed two years ago. If those mistakes are about you, homeowners act on them.
An AI search audit replaces the guessing with a record. Same prompts, same engines, written down, so you know where you stand today and can measure whether anything changes.
What the audit covers
A ChatGPT visibility audit, plus the three other engines homeowners use.
- A homeowner prompt panel. 20 to 40 questions written the way your customers actually ask them: “who fixes a slab leak in Garland,” “is it worth repairing a 15-year-old AC,” “best roofer near Frisco after hail.”
- Four engines, side by side. Each prompt run through ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews, with the full answers saved, not summarized.
- A DFW competitor grid. Every business named across the panel, how often, and on which engine, set against you and the three to five competitors you name on the call.
- An accuracy check. Every claim an AI makes about you, from phone number to service area to hours, marked right or wrong.
- A source trace. Where an engine cites its sources, we list them: the review sites, directories, Reddit threads and pages it trusted for your trade in Dallas.
- An entity review. Your schema, Google Business Profile and core listings checked for the conflicts that make engines unsure who you are.
- A content gap list. The questions where a competitor’s page gets quoted and you have no page that answers it.
- A ranked fix list. What to do first, written in plain English, whether you hire us or not.
How the audit runs.
Agree the questions
On the discovery call we pick your money services, your service area and the competitors you lose jobs to. Those shape the prompt panel.
Run the panel
Every prompt goes through all four engines in a clean session, logged out where possible, with a Dallas location. Answers are saved word for word with the date.
Trace the why
We follow the citations and compare your entity, reviews and pages against the businesses that got named, so each gap has a cause attached.
Walk you through it
You get the grid, the saved answers and the fix list on a call. The same panel becomes the baseline we rerun later to show what changed.
AI visibility audit in Dallas
What an AI visibility audit can and can’t tell you.
AI answers move. Ask ChatGPT the same question twice and you can get a different list. Gemini and Perplexity draw on different sources, and Google’s AI Overviews sit on top of Google’s own index. Anyone who sends you a single screenshot and calls it an audit is showing you one roll of the dice.
Patterns beat screenshots
That’s why we use a panel instead of one question. If a competitor in Plano shows up in most of your trade’s answers across all four engines, that’s a pattern worth acting on. If a name appears once on one engine, it’s noise. The audit reports both, and tells you which is which.
The audit finds causes, not just symptoms
“You weren’t named” is only useful if it comes with a reason. Usually it’s one of a few things: your business details conflict across the web, review sites and directories say little about you, your service pages don’t answer the questions homeowners ask, or nobody outside your own site mentions you at all. Each of those has a fix, and the fix list ties every gap back to one of them.
How it relates to a regular SEO audit
A standard SEO audit looks at crawling, indexing, speed and rankings in Google’s normal results. The AI audit looks at what the answer engines say and the sources behind it. They overlap, because the engines lean on many of the same signals, and if your site has real crawl problems we’ll flag them. For Google’s AI Overviews in particular, the follow-on work is AI Overviews optimization.
What we won’t do
- Quote you an “AI traffic” number. Most AI referrals don’t arrive with a clean label in your analytics, and we won’t dress up a guess.
- Promise the audit gets you named. It shows where you stand and what to fix.
- Hide the prompts. You get every question and every saved answer, so you can rerun them yourself.
The audit is the first step of our generative engine optimization service. If you’d rather start on your own, our guide on how to rank in ChatGPT covers the basics. Ready to see your results? Get in touch and we’ll run your panel before the call.
AI visibility audit questions
What is an AI visibility audit?
It’s a structured test of what AI assistants say about your business. We run a fixed set of homeowner questions through ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews, record which businesses get named, check what’s said about you for accuracy, and trace the sources behind the answers. You get a competitor grid and a ranked list of fixes.
Can’t I just ask ChatGPT about my business myself?
You can, and you should. One question tells you very little, though. Answers change between sessions, and asking “what do you know about my company” isn’t how homeowners search. They ask who to call for a job in their area. The audit tests those questions at volume, across four engines, and compares you to the competitors you actually lose work to.
How long does the audit take?
For one trade and one service area, running the panel, tracing the sources and writing it up usually fits in the first one to two weeks. More services or a wider DFW footprint adds time. We walk you through the findings on a call, and the same prompt set becomes the baseline we rerun to measure progress if you continue with GEO work.
How much does an AI visibility audit cost?
It depends on how many services and cities the panel needs to cover and how many competitors you want compared. For clients who continue into GEO work, the audit is the first step of that work, not a separate project. We’ll scope it on your discovery call and give you a straight quote before anything starts.
