Website speed optimization

A sub-2-second site on any phone

Website speed optimization for Dallas home service businesses. We fix the hosting, images and scripts that make your pages crawl on a phone, so the homeowner who finds you calls you instead of hitting back. We measure the win in calls, not in a test score.

The problem

A slow page loses the call before anyone sees your number.

Picture the search that pays your bills. It’s 6 p.m. in July, the AC just quit in a two-story in Garland, and the homeowner is standing in a hot hallway with one bar of signal. They tap your listing. Your page shows a white screen, then a spinning slider, then a pop-up. They hit back and tap the next company.

You never see that lost call. Your analytics logs a bounce, if it logs anything at all. Google’s own research found that 53% of mobile visits are abandoned when a page takes longer than three seconds to load, and emergency searchers are the least patient visitors you’ll ever get.

Most contractor sites aren’t slow because of one big mistake. They’re slow because of twenty small ones stacked up: cheap shared hosting, phone-camera photos uploaded at full size, a page builder loading code for features you don’t use, three chat widgets and a review badge script nobody remembers adding. Each one costs a fraction of a second. Together they cost you jobs.

What we do

What site speed optimization covers.

  • Hosting and server response. We check how long your server takes to send the first byte. If the host is the bottleneck, no plugin will fix it, and we’ll tell you so before you spend money elsewhere.
  • Images. Resized to the size they actually display, converted to modern formats like WebP or AVIF, and lazy-loaded below the fold. The hero photo loads first, on purpose.
  • Scripts and plugins. We list every script your pages load, find out who added it and why, and remove or delay what doesn’t help a homeowner call you.
  • Fonts and CSS. Fewer font files, critical styles loaded first, unused CSS stripped out, so text appears right away instead of after a blank pause.
  • Caching and a CDN. Pages served from a cache close to the visitor, so a homeowner in McKinney isn’t waiting on a server three states away.
  • Core Web Vitals. Load time, tap response and layout shift measured on real phones. Our Core Web Vitals guide explains what each metric means.
  • The call path. Your phone number and book button visible and tappable on first load, not hidden behind a menu that is still loading.

How a speed project runs.

  1. Measure on real phones

We pull field data from Google’s Chrome UX Report and test your money pages on a throttled mobile connection, then record your current call and form numbers as the baseline.

  2. Find the heaviest pieces

We break each page load down byte by byte and rank what’s slowing it: server, images, scripts, fonts. The biggest delay on your busiest page gets fixed first.

  3. Fix on a staging copy

Changes go onto a copy of your site first. We check that forms, call tracking and booking still work before anything touches the live site.

  4. Ship and compare calls

After launch we compare load times and calls against the baseline, then keep watching so a new plugin or giant photo doesn’t undo the work.

Page speed optimization in Dallas

Why website speed optimization is about calls, not scores.

Plenty of agencies sell page speed optimization as a number. They run PageSpeed Insights, push the score from 40 to 95 and send you a screenshot. That number is a lab test on a simulated phone. It’s useful for finding problems, but it isn’t what Google ranks on and it isn’t what your customers feel.

The numbers that matter

Google’s Core Web Vitals use real visits from Chrome users. A page passes when the main content shows within 2.5 seconds, the page responds to a tap within 200 milliseconds, and the layout shift score stays under 0.1. We aim tighter than that: the main content of your service pages visible in under two seconds on a mid-range phone on cell data. That’s the target behind the headline.

Dallas phones aren’t on office Wi-Fi

Your customers search from driveways in Mesquite, parking lots off I-635 and attics in Frisco with weak signal. A page that loads in one second on your office connection can take five on a phone with two bars. We test on throttled mobile connections because that is where your leads actually come from.

Speed is one part of conversion

A fast page that buries the phone number still loses calls. Speed work pairs naturally with conversion rate optimization, which fixes what visitors see once the page loads. Crawl problems, broken redirects and indexing gaps belong to technical SEO. And when a site is too slow to rescue, the fix is a rebuild through our website design service.

What we won’t do

  • Chase a perfect lab score by stripping out the forms, reviews or call tracking that bring you jobs.
  • Stack another “speed plugin” on top of a slow host and call it fixed.
  • Make changes on your live site without testing them on a copy first.

Site speed questions

Does website speed affect Google rankings?

Yes, but as one signal among many. Google uses page experience, including Core Web Vitals, as part of how it ranks pages. Speed won’t lift a thin page over a better one, but between two similar contractor pages the faster one has an edge. The bigger payoff is that more of the visitors you already get stay long enough to call.

What’s a good load time for a contractor website?

Google’s “good” mark for Largest Contentful Paint is 2.5 seconds, measured on real visits. We aim for the main content of your service pages to appear in under two seconds on a mid-range phone using cell data. Your number and book button should be tappable as soon as that content shows.

Can you speed up my site without rebuilding it?

Usually, yes. Most of the gains come from hosting, images, caching and trimming scripts, and none of that needs a new site. If the theme or page builder itself is the problem, we’ll show you the measurements and explain whether patching it or rebuilding is the better use of your money.

How much does website speed optimization cost?

It depends on how many pages you have, what your site is built on, and whether the host has to change. A small WordPress site with oversized photos is a different job from a large site on a heavy page builder. We quote after the speed audit on your discovery call.
